City School HQ Curriculum

City School HQ’s Vision

City School’s vision is to provide our young people with an educational experience that is innovative, creative and is nurturing for our students’ individual academic and personal needs. Our focus on pastoral care and curriculum will engage and empower our young people to be confident learners who have a strong sense of belonging.

Our curriculum will challenge self-doubt and negative preconceptions by carefully scaffolding the learning to meet all individual needs; enabling our students to have a positive and sustainable future. We deliver core academic subjects in a smaller and more supportive school environment as well as a wide variety of vocational and creative subjects. This allows students to express themselves whilst gaining the skills and qualifications necessary for moving on successfully, to their desired Post-16 destinations.

Learning Outside the Classroom

One afternoon a week is dedicated to whole group activities taking in the historical, cultural and environmental aspects of the City and its surroundings. This is to further empower students’ advancements in their personal experiences and development.

Our School

Our site is situated in the heart of Bristol, Redfield. The building consists of well-resourced classrooms across two floors, all with functioning ICT access.

City School also has two large workshops which we hope will inspire students who are aspiring to a future in wood work. Teaching spaces have no more than 8 students allowing for personalised supportive teaching and learning with opportunities for 1:1 sessions in and around the site.

Pupils follow a core curriculum in the mornings comprising of English, Maths, PSHE, Science, Sociology and Health and Social Care are being added to our offer for this year.
