Nest Newsletter
Newsletter
Welcome to the first ever Nest Newsletter!
Every term we will be giving out a newsletter filled with useful information. Please have a read and let us know what you would like to see in our next newsletter.
This term our topic is ‘Festivals and Celebrations’! We are really excited about this term’s topic because it allows us lots of opportunities to learn about different cultures and religions. Last week, we explored the ‘Gunpowder Plot’ and wrote our own letters to warn Lord Monteagle about the treasonous plan! This week we are learning all about Diwali and will be re-telling the Diwali story of Rama and Sita.
Also, this term we have launched our new lesson ‘Discovery Classroom’! This lesson is based outdoors and uses the natural environment as a stimulus for learning. This term we are focussing on maths outdoors! Last week we created a bar graph to present information about the colour of the leaves in The Nest playground.
Superstar Readers!
This term we are focussing on reading at The Nest and have launched our new ‘Reading Superstar’ bookmarks. The children each have a bookmark which can hold reward stickers for reading. Each time a child reads a book (either at home or The Nest) they can earn themselves a sticker. Once they have 6 stickers, they will be able to choose from our special superstar reader pencil or a badge.
The first person to earn a sticker was Henley, on Monday. Well done Henley!
Exciting updates
The Nest would like to congratulate Tommy, who has been elected as the Nest School Councilor.
